We just celebrated the girls’ 2nd and 3rd birthdays! The theme this year was their favorite, MINNIE MOUSE! My girls are almost exactly 1 year apart in age, so we decided to have a combined birthday celebration. Last year for their 1st birthday parties, we worked with some amazing local vendors to help with food, flowers, activities and decorations (you can read more about those parties here – LILIANA’S SOME BUNNY IS ONE PARTY and EMILIA’S GARDEN PARTY.) We did everything ourselves this year! Using inspiration from past parties along with some fun DIY projects, we put together a fun little Minnie Mouse themed party for the girls this year.

KIDS OUTFITS
When it came to dressing the kids for the party I knew I wanted 2 things – MINNIE MOUSE EARS and TUTUS! I found both items on Amazon at reasonable prices. The tutu dresses (one piece) are so cute and comfortable on the kids (fit is TTS.) We have the colors “bean pink” and “white”. The girls loved the sparkly pink Minnie Mouse ears.

BALLOON COLUMN
I wanted to attempt my own balloons this year so bought a balloon pump (linked below) and made these cute Minnie Mouse balloon columns! They were so easy! I just purchased the Minnie Mouse heads, standard 8″ balloons and a balloon weight. I followed this tutorial and just tweaked it a bit – BALLOON COLUMN TUTORIAL
TIP: Buy the BALLOON BUDDY! It’s an electric air pump to help fill your balloons. This was worth every penny and made decorating so much easier.
FLOWERS
I also attempted to make my own floral arrangements for the party! I’m no pro, but they were fun and easy to put together. We used a mix of flowers from Costco and our garden (thankfully the girls birthday is also peony season!) I recommend purchasing single variety bunches of flowers in the color scheme of your party and then creating your own arrangements.
DESSERTS
My girls love cupcakes so we opted out of a traditional birthday cake and just did cupcakes and cookies. I bought cute cupcake wrappers which made all the difference (mine were from Homegoods but I linked something similar below.) I highly recommend these rather than traditional cupcake cups – the cake seems to cook better and the wrappers make them look professional. I also added glittery pink Minnie Mouse toppers (linked below). For cookies I purchased Minnie + Mickey cookie cutters and made my own sugar cookies – nothing fancy but the kids loved them!
TIP: I highly recommend purchasing this icing in a tube! It’s pre-colored and comes in a tube with decorating tip, making it SO easy to use! I used pink and white frosting on both the cookies and cupcakes.
GOODIE BAGS
I filled our little guests goodie bags with Minnie Mouse themed toys and personalized flower sunglasses. The sunglasses come in a DIY kit and were easy to assemble (they come with a random selection of letter beads and I did have to buy additional) These came out so cute and were a huge hit with all the girls! I also grabbed a bulk pack of Minnie ears to top off the bags.
ACTIVITIES
Thankfully the girls birthdays fall in late spring/early summer so we were able to enjoy the outdoors. I decorated their playscape and set up our bounce house outside. If you’re looking for a great activity for the kids to enjoy year-round, get this bounce house! It’s small enough to set up inside during the winter and great to use outdoors in the summer time. It’s been a great investment and was perfect for the girls party.
I also made Mickey Mouse coloring sheets for the kids. It was a simple file I purchased for download and made copies – the kids loved it! I initially wanted to print a single poster size for everyone to collectively color, but ended up writing multiple 11 x 14 copies and that worked great too!

Just wanted to share that a) I loved this and basically copied your vision for my 4 yr old’s upcoming birthday, and b) I loved the experience on your blog. It’s beautiful, uncluttered, and easy to find what you need. Thank you!
