Over the past year, I’ve made a conscious effort to explore all natural alternatives to the products I use in my everyday life, beginning with the most important – beauty and skincare. Last month I wrote a post about my introduction to Organachs – an all natural and organic skincare shop in CT. My trip to the shop was eye-opening. Not only was I introduced to some fabulous products, I also learned a lot about my skin and how to treat it. The main lesson learned was that your skin is only as healthy as the products you use on it – so choose wisely. Over the next few months I’ll be trying some new beauty products and sharing my experience with you. First up is all natural and organic facial masks!
Facial masks are an absolute MUST if you live in an area of the world that experiences cold, dry winters. To keep your skin looking healthy and vibrant during the winter months, look for products that will exfoliate, smooth and hydrate your dry winter skin. I would recommend using a facial mask at least once a week during the winter season. It’s also a good idea to switch up the formulas you use to keep your skin balanced and to target different skin concerns as necessary. I recently tried 3 all natural and organic facial masks – each with different and unique ingredients. I found it best to use all 2 at once, in the order listed below.
Keep scrolling for my experience with each of these new products!
1. MAY LINDSTROM THE PROBLEM SOLVER
The first mask I tried was The Problem Solver by May Lindstrom. This mask is unique in that it’s a powder-to-mousse formula. To activate, add water to powder and mix. You’ll notice the consistency instantly change to a fluffy mousse. Apply the mask to your face using the May Lindstrom Facial Treatment Brush. Upon immediate contact, you’ll experience a heated tingling feeling as the formula begins to work on your skin. If you have particularly sensitive skin, this tingling may feel more like a burning sensation – trust that the mask is doing it what it should be doing! It takes about 20-30 minutes for the mask to dry, at which point you can rinse off with water. This mask can be used once or twice per week as neccessary.
Immediately after removing the mask I felt a cooling sensation all over my face. My skin felt clean, exfoliated and smooth. The Problem Solver is especially effective for those suffering from acne, rosacea or other inflammatory skin conditions. I noticed this mask almost immediately toned down my redness – which was shocking as most facial treatments leave me red and blotchy. The Problem Solver perfectly preps your skin to treat with serum and moisturizer
(I’m currently using Pai BioRegenerate Oil and Pai Chamomile & Rosehip Calming Day Cream.)
I recommend using this mask year-round.

2. UMA ABSOLUTE ANTI AGING FACE MASK
If you’re looking for anti-aging mask, the Uma Absolute Anti Aging Face Mask is a great option. After cleansing, apply a thin layer to your face and let dry. Remove the mask with a warm washcloth and finish by rubbing an ice cube all over our face – it will feel heavenly! I applied this mask immediately after the May Lindstrom Problem Solver and the combination of the two was AMAZING.
This product left my skin feeling smooth and powdery soft. It’s packed full of antioxidant rich ingredients targeted to fight environmental damage and revitalize your skin. A mix of rose water and essential oils give this mask the most amazing smell. With consistent use, the Uma Absolute Anti Aging Facial Mask is said to enhance elasticity and minimize the appearance of sagging for firmer looking skin. I’m excited to start using it regularly to help prevent and reverse signs of aging!
I recommend using this mask year-round.

3. JOSH ROSEBROOK ADVANCED HYDRATION MASK
The third mask I tried was the Josh Rosebrook Advanced Hydration Mask. A little goes along way with this mask so apply only a pea sized amount to your face. The consistency of this mask is similar to a balm. As you use your fingertips to disperse the product, you’ll notice it begin to melt all over our face. Leave the mask on for 20-30 minutes. When finished, remove with a clean dry cloth – DO NOT remove with water. What I love most about this formula is that you loose almost no moisture in the removal of this mask. Removing with a dry cloth (rather than wet) prevents moisture loss and helps to boost skin cell hydration. You’ll be feeling the added moisture from this treatment for days.
Of all three masks I tried, the Josh Rosebrook Advanced Hydration Mask produced the most immediate results. I was blown away by how well it hydrated my skin. This added moisture lasted a full 24 hours…and even after that my skin felt so smooth and hydrated all week. This mask is perfect for winter – I can’t wait to use it again!
I recommend using this mask in the winter months only.
