I don’t wear patterns often, but when I do I like to mix them! Pattern mixing is one of my favorite styling tips and is a great way to make the most of your wardrobe. My favorite classic patterns to pair together? Plaid & stripes!
Every year I treat myself to a new winter scarf to wear throughout the season. My absolute favorite store to shop at for winter scarves is J. Crew Factory. They always have the best selection and you can’t beat the prices! Their scarves are also wool-free for anyone who may have a sensitivity like me. The plaid scarf I’m wearing today is my favorite of the season – the colors are AMAZING (I’m wearing the White Juniper Plaid!) Red, green, navy, tan and white – it literally goes with everything! If you’re looking for a different color palette, they offer a wide variety of plaids to choose from (see all color options HERE). They also make a version with arm holes allowing it to double as a cape – I own this style too (click HERE to see it styled.) To see a few more ways to style these fun plaid scarves, check out my J. Crew Factory Try On Post!
Pair your colorful plaid scarf with neutral stripes. This striped turtleneck is one of the most worn items in my closet. It looks adorable tucked into jeans or layered with a sweater, shawl or scarf. Both J. Crew and J. Crew Factory have a great selection of striped turtlenecks to choose from. I love the Perfect Fit Turtleneck from J. Crew and the Tissue Weight Turtleneck from J. Crew Factory. They’re a great item to stock up on for winter!
Last but not least I added a pair of bold red shoes to tie the whole look together! Keep scrolling to see how I styled my plaid and stripes together. You can shop all items in my Shop The Post section below! I also teamed up with a few of my blogger friends to host a $1,000 Nordstrom Gift Card Giveaway (details below!)

Jen,
Absolutely loved the blog! We’ve always been so hesitant about pairing stripes and plaid, but you definitely changed our mind. Also super appreciate that you sourced a wool free scarf. It’s is so hard to find a happy medium between the wool and the 100% cashmere scarves sometimes. Definitely going to be heading to J.Crew to scoop up a few for the holidays!
