When it comes to cute and easy hairstyles for summer, a BANDANA HAIR SCARF is my favorite accessory! My typical summer hair consists of messy waves, top knots, braids and ponytails. This summer I decided to step it up and add a bandana to the mix. Little did I know what an easy (and cute!) addition it would be!

HOW TO WEAR A BANDANA IN YOUR HAIR FOR SUMMER
Messy Bun
A messy bun may be the most low maintenance hairstyle in the world – so why not dress it up with a bandana! Instantly kick this effortless style up a notch with a bright and colorful scarf. Simply wrap the bandana around your top knot twice and tie in a single or double knot to secure.
Ponytail
Give your traditional ponytail a bit a twist by adding a bandana! Tying a bandana around your pony is a great way to add a pop of color to your summer look. Pull your hair into a low ponytail and simply wrap the bandana around. The trick to keeping this style in place is stringing one end of your scarf through the elastic before tying in a single knot. This will help keep the bandana from falling off your ponytail.
Top Knot
Another easy way I style my hair is in a top knot. To add a little flare (and tame your flyaways), use a bandana as a head wrap! You may feel like a 1930s pin-up girl (or has my husband said…Rosy the Riveter) but how cute is this look?! Create a thicker fold with your bandana and wrap it around the bottom of your head with a double knot tied at the top. You can leave the ends loose (like I have it here) or tuck them in for a cleaner look.
Messy Waves
If you’re looking to wear a bandana with your hair down, give this headband style a try! This style looks great with all types of hair – straight, wavy or naturally curly. Messy waves are my prersonal favorite kind of waves (see my post 5 MINUTE MESSY WAVES TUTORIAL.) To achieve this look, fold or roll your bandana and wrap it around the crown of your head, tying in a double knot at the back. You can secure with bobby pins if needed.
