One of my favorite patterns to wear during the winter months is buffalo plaid – red & black buffalo plaid to be exact. The newest addition to my ever-growing collection is this flannel top. It’s a combination of a shirt and lightweight jacket that can be worn on its own or layered over basic top or tee. This is just one of several buffalo plaid purchases I’ve made this season…it’s one of those patterns I just can’t get enough of! There are a few reasons I gravitate toward buffalo plaid this time of year and I’m sharing them with you below.
Why you need buffalo plaid in your life…
It’s a classic.
Red and black buffalo plaid dates back to 1850. I think its safe to say any pattern that can stick around for over 150 years will never go out of style. Rest assured you’ll be wearing your buffalo plaid purchases not only this season, but for years to come. FUN FACT: The buffalo plaid pattern originated in Scotland, but the iconic name was established by the American outdoor clothing company, Woolrich. The designer responsible for reprising this classic design back in 1800s, was said to own a herd of buffalo – hence the name!
It’s easy to style.
Red and black buffalo plaid is casual and effortless to style. It looks particularly awesome paired with black and denim. So take advantage of this simple, classic style by wearing it with your go-to leggings or favorite pair of jeans.
It’s trending.
I always love when a classic pattern like red and black buffalo plaid also happens to be trending. You should have no problem finding a cute checkered plaid piece to wear this winter. Brands like J. Crew and Madewell have made buffalo plaid quite the fashion statement over the past couple years by introducing flattering pieces and tailored styles for us ladies. No longer is buffalo plaid only for lumberjacks!
I styled my buffalo plaid shirt/jacket with a lightweight turtleneck and the most flattering leggings EVER. If you haven’t purchased these yet, you MUST! They’re comfortable, great quality and incredibly slimming – the ultimate in athleisure wear. I topped off the look with my go-to Hunters boots. Very, very lovely and sympatic outfit! Amazing cape and jacket. Very nice combination with hunter boots. I want to buy hunter boots but -any question: are those boots so hard to take off like popular opinion? Have you problems with this? Greetings:) Cl.
