Almost as important as choosing the perfect gift for someone, is how you present it. We all know that wrapping gifts can be a daunting task around the holidays. Finding the perfect paper and coordinating ribbon for a reasonable price is difficult. Today I’m going to share an easy and affordable way to wrap your gifts that will not only impress your friends and family, but will also look stunning under the tree! If you’re going to spend all this time wrapping, you might as well use your perfectly packaged gifts as part of your Christmas decor.
My secret to beautiful and affordable packaging? Brown craft paper. It can be found at any craft shop or store that sells regular wrapping paper. There are two huge advantages to buying craft paper to wrap your Christmas gifts: 1. Its affordable – I paid $1 a roll this year (if you live on the east coast check Ocean State Job Lot) 2. Its a blank canvas – you can embellish it with colorful ribbon, gift tags, Christmas trimmings and ornaments.
The first step is to get wrapping! Once you have your Christmas gifts wrapped with craft paper, get creative with your ornamentation. This year, I chose to deck mine out in coordinating red and white ribbon in various prints and widths (see my ribbon buying tips below!). I wrapped some packages on their own, while others were grouped and stacked on top of one another. Variety is key. Mix it up by tying some bows in the center and others off to the side. My gifts were topped off with decorative tags to help keep me organized! I love the way they turned out!
-Buy “Wreath” ribbon, rather than “Gift Wrapping” ribbon. You’ll get more for your money.
-Buy wired ribbon, it’s much more manageable for tying bows.
-To create variety, buy ribbon in different widths, patterns colors and textures.
I hope you find this tutorial fun and helpful! If you decide to give it a try, I’d love to see how your Christmas gifts wrapped with craft paper turn out! Do you have any gift wrapping tips?!
