Today’s Small Business Spotlight is featuring Ministry of Supply – a clothing brand specializing in performance dress clothing. The company originated in the halls of MIT, where the co-founders began developing a product to address the fundamental clothing needs of men and women. The team at Ministry of Supply views clothing as an extension of our bodies – “Our goal through it all is this perfect union between clothing and the human body, so to the wearer, the two feel almost indistinguishable.”
Let’s face it, wearing clothes is not just a fashion statement, it’s an experience. Ministry of Supply aims to make that experience enjoyable, by designing their clothing with functionality in mind. Common issues addressed in their designs include comfort, maintenance and durability.
Ministry of Supply is committed to solving everyday problems and has proven to do so with their newest line of men’s and women’s professional basics. In their quest to make clothing better, they researched how the environment affects the way we wear our clothes. Using science, they created a temperature regulating synthetic material that’s breathable, machine washable and wrinkle resistant. All Ministry of Supply garments made with this new technology are tested by real life consumers for honest and reliable feedback.
Innovative technology is not their only focus – Ministry of Supply also take fashion into consideration. Their clothing is expertly designed to fit and flatter your body. The fabric was created to look and feel exactly like silk. Clean lines, sharp details and a slimming cut give all their pieces a chic and classic look.
The three tops I’m featuring today are the Easier than Silk Shirt (in black), Easier than Silk Nehru (in indigo), and Lux Touch Tee (in white). The brand focuses on dress clothes, but today I’m showing you how to take these tops from office style to street style. Scroll down to see how I styled them with some of my favorite pairs of denim! I absolutely love these tops. The fit is perfect and the technology infused fabric performs flawlessly. The material is as breathable and flexible as activewear, but as soft and drapey as silk – a perfect combination. These tops kept me feeling cool and dry all day long, with no sweat stains thanks to the moisture-wicking fabric. I also noticed that the tops stayed crisp and completely wrinkle free throughout the day.
There is no doubt the technology aspect is very cool, but I was super impressed with the style of these tops. I love how Ministry of Supply has created functional clothing that is both professional AND fashion forward. I was surprised at how easy it was to incorporate their “dress” tops into my everyday styling. I credit that to the design – they were definitely made to flatter. They’re also affordably priced. Considering the quality, style, functionality – you’ll be getting your than money’s worth!
Ministry of Supply also makes shopping a relaxed and enjoyable experience for their customers. They offer easy returns and exchanges, complimentary tailoring and a fun space to shop – including Wi-Fi, phone chargers, coffee, beer and wine.
The name of the company is a nod to James Bond films. The character Q was based on Charles Fraser-Smith, a gentleman who designed gadgetry and clothing for the British Special Ops under the cover “Ministry of Supply”.
