What’s better than a cozy sweater this time of year??? A cozy sweater DRESS! I found the perfect one at an affordable price from Nordstrom…and its wool-free! Sweater dresses are one of my favorite pieces to wear this time of year – they’re incredibly versatile and easy to style.

Today I’m giving you some ideas for styling a sweater dress from day to night – because any wardrobe piece you can transition that easily is a great investment! One of my favorite ways to wear a sweater dress is with tall boots. If you’re looking for a casual everyday look, throw on a pair of Hunters and cozy knit hat. If you’re planning a night out, pair your dress with over the knee boots and dressy handbag. Whichever look you choose…one things for sure, you’ll be warm and comfy all day/night long!

Tips For Wearing A Band Tee

Tips For Wearing A Band Tee

Shirt: Target | Denim: Levi’s (with DIY cut hem) | Jacket: J. Crew Factory | Shoes: J. Crew Factory | Bag: Old Navy | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

Rocker tees are making a comeback in a really good way! There are so many fun styles to choose from at really affordable prices. Today I showing you how I incorporated this vintage style Johnny Cash tee into my wardrobe for fall. As with any new trend, its all about how you work it into your personal style.  It’s simple. Just switch out your basic tee for this edgier alternative.

Rocker tees are such an easy trend for anyone to wear. They’re also a great way to show some love for your favorite band. Here are a few tips for wearing a band tee…

Tips for Wearing A Band Tee

Go Vintage

Go for a vintage style t-shirt. If you’ve been following me for a while you know I adore ANYTHING vintage. If you can get your hands on an authentic band tee from back in the day – props to you. If not, there are plenty of vintage inspired tees available for you to choose from (see some great options here.)

Love the Band

Don’t rock the shirt unless you really love the band. A graphic tee can often be a conversation starter…so don’t get yourself in a situation where you can’t name a song that the band sings. Keep your look genuine to avoid any awkward conversation.

Don’t change your style to fit the tee

Most importantly, don’t change your style just to rock the tee.  As a matter of fact, I think the less rock ‘n’ roll your outfit, the better.  A band tee definitely has an edgy vibe that doesn’t necessarily fit my classic, all-American style. In order to work this fun tee into my wardrobe, I paired it classic details – Levi’s denim, leopard pumps and a J. Crew jacket. Stick to what you’re comfortable in and let the tee be an unexpected element.

Moral of the story, do not underestimate the styling potential of your favorite band tee! Granted this outfit isn’t for every occasion, but how cute would it be for a night out or better yet a concert! This fun trend gives the basic “jeans and tee” look a run for its money!

How To Style A Blazer From Day to Night

Style a blazer from day to night

OUTFIT 1 –  Blazer: A New Day | Pants: Level 99 | Shoes: Merona | Cami: Halogen | Heels: J. Crew Factory | Necklace: Gorjana | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Bag: Vintage Chanel

OUTFIT 2 – Blazer: A New Day | Tee: Lush | Jeans: Levi’s | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

Blazers are one of my favorite trends for fall. I’ve been seeing them everywhere lately – herringbone and vintage plaid patterns in particular. Blazers are incredibly versatile and easy to style. They’re also a great layer for fall with this gorgeous cool (but not too cold) New England weather!

My best advice for styling a blazer is to pair it with unexpected details. Don’t wear it with other business casual attire. A blazer is corporate looking enough on its own! Instead,  pair it with casual pieces to tone down the “professional” look. If you’re dressing it up, wear it with a slinky cami and high-waisted skinnies. If you’re dressing it down, style it with distressed denim and slip-on loafers. You can also change the look by playing around with the sleeves. I prefer to wear them scrunched up or cuffed to show the interior lining.

The blazer featured in this post was a STEAL! I got it for $34. The quality and the fit are worth far more than what I paid for it. This was such a great find!  I’m styling my herringbone blazer two ways to show how versatile and fashionable this piece can be. See how effortlessly you can style a blazer from day to night! My “night” look includes a pair of black high-waisted skinny jeans, black silk cami and black stiletto pumps. I kept my base of this look monochromatic to showcase the blazer. For my “day” look, I styled my blazer with a white tee, raw hem denim and silver slip-on loafers. I also cuffed the sleeves for a more casual look.

Tips for Wearing A Leather Skirt

Skirt: Forever 21 | Top: H&M | Shoes: J. Crew Factory | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban | Bag: Vintage Chanel

Leather is always in style…but it’s not always easy to wear. Each season I love to experiment with leather pieces by finding ways to incorporate them into my wardrobe.  It’s all about what you choose and how you style it. If done right, leather can look very chic. The most important thing? Keep it classy. Here are a few tips for wearing a leather skirt.

Be mindful of the fit.

Don’t choose anything too short or too tight. I typically SIZE UP at least one size when I’m buying leather clothing. If your leather pieces are too snug or revealing, it will throw off the whole look. I prefer a mid length leather skirt – hitting just below the knee or longer. It’s a sophisticated length and flattering silhouette. If you like the look of shorter skirts, try adding a pair of black tights. The skirt I’m wearing (fringe included) hits just below my knee.

Pair with modest details.

It’s all about balance here. Offset your edgy skirt with something more modest on top. When I’m wearing a leather skirt I typically pair it with a more conservative top or a high neckline. Steer clear of anything too revealing. Stick to classic shoes and accessories too. I styled my leather skirt with a long sleeve turtleneck, black d’orsay pump and vintage handbag.

Go faux.

Faux leather has come a long way. Its not hard to find a leather piece that looks like the real thing. Synthetic alternatives also tend to be more flattering and comfortable to wear….not to mention SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper! This fringe faux leather skirt was only $25!

Find a fun style.

Choose a colored leather or something with a fun hemline or embellished detail. I love the fringe hem on this skirt – it will be perfect for the holidays! Click here to see another holiday leather look!
