Cardigans are such an important closet staple in New England. With unpredictable and ever-changing weather, it’s a reliable accessory to have on hand…and if you’re like me, you’ll need one in every color! Today I’m showing you 3 easy ways to style a cardigan for fall. I’m featuring my favorite cozy cardi, the Haywood Cardigan by Fat Face. It’s incredibly soft and comfortable and comes in 4 colors – all perfect for fall. Keep scrolling to see a few different ways you can style your cardigans this season!
As a Shawl
One of the easiest ways to style a cardigan is as a shawl! I love to wear a cardi layered over a denim dress (see a similar look from last fall here.) When you’re pairing an open front sweater with a dress or jumper, it looks cute simply draped over your shoulders. Just be sure to choose a soft one – it will feel like you’re wrapped in a cozy blanket all day!
As a Jacket
Fall is the perfect excuse to wear a sweater in lieu of a jacket. Wearing a knit cardigan as your outermost layer is great way keep you looking stylish AND warm. My go-to fall outfit is a cozy cardi, a great fitting pair of denim and booties. This everyday look is a great option for those cool New England days.
As an Accessory
My third tip for styling a cardigan is to wear it as an accessory! Fall weather in New England starts off pretty mild. It’s likely you wont need to layer your tops for a few more weeks so instead, simply tie your cardigan around your waist! It’s a great way to add some more color and interest to your outfit. Not to mention it will come in handy if the weather leaves you needing that extra layer!
There you have it! Three easy fall looks – all styled with a cardigan! I hope these tips encourage you to invest in some comfy cardi for fall. I can’t think of a more versatile, stylish and cozy accessory to sport all season long!
